Prerequisite To Adopting God's Heart for Ministry
This powerful message challenges us to examine three essential prerequisites for adopting God's heart for ministry. First, we must be saved—there's no gray area in our relationship with Christ. We're either in or out, and the beautiful truth is that Jesus welcomes all who come to Him without exception. Second, we must deny ourselves, which means utterly destroying our own agenda and dethroning self from the center of our lives. This isn't about occasional sacrifice but daily surrender, filtering our desires through God's will rather than filtering His will through our wants. The only reason we cling to control is that we don't fully trust God's love for us. Third, we must grow spiritually through systematic development, not random exposure to different messages. Just as a farmer understands that seeds need proper soil, timing, and fertilization to mature, we need intentional spiritual nourishment to move from infancy to maturity. Growth requires death—the grain must die to become a stalk, and we must die to old patterns to embrace new life. The penetrating question remains: whose assignment are we fulfilling—our own or God's? Without salvation, self-denial, and growth, we cannot truly adopt God's heart for ministry and become the light our communities desperately need.
